About Susan Garber
Susan Garber is a Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L) who is certified in Low Vision Therapy (CLVT). She began her OT career in 2002 by launching her own company, Living Skills Rehabilitation. Susan was not only an advocate from the start, but a successful catalyst in getting Medicare regulations changed to cover low vision occupational therapy services in Ohio.
A Low Vision Visionary
Susan moved from Maryland to Atlanta to serve as Director for the Low Vision Clinic at the Center for the Visually Impaired (CVI), the largest low vision service provider in the state of Georgia. During her 5 year tenure, the clinic treated hundreds of patients yearly with low vision and experienced a significant increase in the number of referral sources and patients served.
Susan is recognized among industry professionals and peers throughout the country. She has given talks to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, statewide occupational therapy organizations, senior communities and to eye care and rehabilitation professionals. She brings a unique perspective that draws from a diverse and expansive skill set gained from designing and managing low vision OT services in private eye-care practices, hospitals, rehabilitation agencies, non-profit agencies, and from starting and managing her own practice.
On a personal note, Susan has been married to her loving husband for over 25 years. They have two grown children who share Susan’s joy of laughter and adventure. When she is not working, Susan enjoys an active lifestyle with hikes in the woods, cycling at the gym and playing with her golden doodle, Zoey.
